How Canada became an independent nation
how Canada became an independent nation
When the American Revolution was taking place, many loyalists moved up to Nova Scotia, Canada where there wasn't fighting against the British. They eventually spread out to the St. James river and into Quebec. Quebec, which already had the culture and language of the French, was changed when so many colonists moved there. The British government sent in the Quebec Law that allowed French people to practice their culture and religion. But even then, the problem persisted that the British and French had major differences in culture and religion. By that time, the British divided Canada into British Upper Canada and French Lower Canada. In 1837, The Canadians started to rebel against the British. They realized that they needed to unify their colonies so, they created a confederation which enabled the British to not responsible be for the Canadians.
