European infulence on Language and Religion
Language
The first Europeans to come to Canada are the French and British. Most French people settled in Quebec and the British were scattered around Canada. The French and British made up all Canada's population except for the 5 percent of the First Nations people. Later, the government decided to make both French and English the official languages. Only a small amount of people in Canada still speak French and they are working hard to keep their language alive.
Religion
Before the French and the British, the First Nations people first settled in Canada. They had their own religion and culture. When the Europeans came to Canada, they took the natives land and changed their environment. The English were protestant and the French were Catholic. Many First Nations people then converted to either Protestant or Catholic. Very few First Nations people are still alive today and they have their own religion and culture.
